Short answer: order enough to cover the whole wall plus a trimming allowance. Measure the widest width and the tallest height of the wall, including doors and windows, then add 2–4 inches (5–10 cm) to both. That is the smallest print you need. Pick the closest listed size that is at least that big, or ask us for a custom size if none of the listed sizes fits well.
LumvinWalls murals are printed as one continuous image for the size you order and supplied in numbered vertical panels about 40 in (100 cm) wide. You don't count rolls or match pattern repeats; you order the finished width and height.
How do I work out what size to order?
- Measure the width at the top, middle and bottom of the wall. Keep the largest number.
- Measure the height at the left, centre and right. Keep the largest number.
- Don't subtract doors, windows, sockets or radiators. The mural is printed for the full wall and trimmed around them.
- Add 2–4 in (5–10 cm) to the width and 2–4 in (5–10 cm) to the height for trimming.

What sizes can I order?
Most designs are listed in the eight standard sizes below, plus a $16 sample. Sizes are always width × height. Prices depend on the design and the material, so check the product page for the exact price.

Panel counts are estimates: the exact panel width and number depend on the final dimensions and the material.
Worked example: a 287 × 245 cm wall (113 × 96.5 in)
- Wall: 287 cm wide × 245 cm high, which is 113.0 × 96.5 in.
- With the trimming allowance: 292–297 cm × 250–255 cm (115–117 × 98.5–100.5 in).
- Smallest standard size that covers it: 150 × 100 in (381 × 254 cm). Height is fine: 3.5 in (9 cm) to trim, inside the recommended allowance. Width is generous: about 37 in (94 cm) more than the wall.
- Closer fit: a custom size of about 117 × 100.5 in (297 × 255 cm), the wall plus 4 in (10 cm) each way. That is roughly 3 panels instead of 4.
Why it matters: whatever is wider than the wall is cut off, so on the 150 in print you would lose part of the design at the sides. With a custom size we prepare the artwork for your wall and set the crop so the composition still works.
Worked example: a 131 × 66 inch wall (333 × 168 cm)
- Wall: 131 in wide × 66 in high, which is 332.7 × 167.6 cm.
- With the trimming allowance: 133–135 × 68–70 in (338–343 × 173–178 cm).
- Smallest standard size that covers it: 140 × 90 in (356 × 229 cm). That leaves 9 in (23 cm) of width and 24 in (61 cm) of height to trim.
- Closer fit: a custom size of about 135 × 70 in (343 × 178 cm), roughly 4 panels.
Wide, low walls like this one lose the most to trimming on a standard size: here about a quarter of the printed height would be cut away. Our page on custom size wall murals explains how to order the exact proportions.

Does the material change how much I need?
No. You order the same width and height whichever material you choose. The material changes the finish, the price and how the wallpaper goes up:
- Non-Woven (180 g/m²) and Textured (240 g/m²) are hung with wallpaper adhesive, which is not included.
- Peel & Stick and Canvas Peel & Stick are self-adhesive and need a smooth, clean, prepared wall.
- At the same size, Non-Woven is the lowest-priced option, then Textured, Peel & Stick and Canvas Peel & Stick.

Should I order a sample first?
If colour, texture or adhesion matters, yes. A sample costs $16: choose Sample as the size on any product page. It shows the real print and material in your own light. A sample may show a scaled section of the design and is not meant to cover a wall. Order a sample.
What if my wall is bigger than 200 × 110 in?
The largest standard size is 200 × 110 in (508 × 279 cm). For a bigger wall, or an unusual shape, send us the width, height and the design you like through our custom orders page before ordering.
